My name is Arielle Maldonado. I was born and raised on the north side of Chicago in the Logan Square neighborhood. I came to the Medford/Somerville area when I decided to attend school at Tufts University. I graduated in 2012 with a double major in Economics and Chinese and a minor in Entrepreneurial Leadership. I have been painting at the Katherine Martin Widmer School of Painting for 2 1/2 years. I have learned so much about painting from Katherine and met many close friends at the school. The first painting I completed at the school is titled Puerto Rican Paradise. I am very proud of my Puerto Rican ethnicity and wanted to create something that displayed my culture. I chose to paint a scene of Puerto Rico along the beach with El Morro, the Puerto Rican flag, and the Red Hibiscus, Puerto Rico's state flower. I hope you enjoy my paintings.
